Peridot from space

Today, peridot can be found in a variety of other locations, including the United States and Pakistan, where many of the best specimens have been identified. Just a half-century ago, a massive meteorite was discovered in Argentina, containing a large amount of the sought-after peridot crystals.

The majority of it was purchased by an American collector and divided for sale. Special laser beams and spectrometry were used to detect elements such as lithium, vanadium, cobalt, manganese, nickel, and zinc. Which helps both researchers and buyers to understand more about the gems' origin.
